How to convert 24-hour to 12-hour time?

Insert “AM” and add 12 to the first hour of the day. Midnight is referred to as 00:00 in 24-hour time. To convert to 12-hour time, add 12 and the signifier “AM” to the midnight hour. This means that 00:19 in 24-hour time is equivalent to 12:19 AM in 12-hour time.

When we look at between 1:00 and 11:59 AM, use the abbreviation “AM.” Because 24-hour time goes from 00:00 (midnight) to 1:00, all you have to go over 1:00 to 11:59 is add “AM” to the time. For example, 07:28 in 24-hour time is 7:28 AM in 12-hour time.

From 12:00 to 12:59, add the indicator “PM.” Consider adding “PM” to the end of the 24-hour time for making it a 12-hour time during the midday hour. As an example, 12:45 becomes 12:45 PM.

From 13:00 to 23:59, subtract 12 and add “PM.” Subtract 12 hours from the 24 hours for hours afternoon. After that, put “PM” at the end. For converting 14:36 to 12-hour time, subtract 12, which is 2:36, and then add “PM.”

Other practical methods

Alternatively, 00:00 can be used to represent midnight in 24-hour time. Unlike 12-hour time, which uses “12:00” twice in 24 hours, 24-hour time uses “00:00” for the midnight hour. Basically just keep track of the minutes. 12:30 a.m., for instance, turns 00:30.

Except for removing the “PM” signifier, you don’t need to do anything to transform 12:00 PM to 12:00 in 24-hour time. As a result, 12:32 PM would just be 12:32.

Start adding 12 to the 12-hour time to convert it to 24-hour time during the afternoon, evening, and nighttime. Also, get rid of the word “PM.” As a result, 4:43 PM would become 16:43.
